Topic: identify my opaque pinkish bubble Posted: January 11 2012 at 7:07pm |
anyone have any clue what this could be, i noticed it the other day and sorry for the bad picture. i noticed that there was two but the other was on the back side of the candycane. it just looks like an opaque, pearlecent sac, on the bottom side you can see a "foot" or something where it is attatched to the rock. anyone have any ideas??

Hard to tell from the photo. It could be a sponge, coral polyp, egg sac, etc.

Look here to see if it matches any of the red algae. http://utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5037 There is one red ball algae it may be. Red algae is rare and very valuable. Let it grow. It's good for the tank. If it gets to where there is too much, there are fish, and hobbyists here, that love it. If it has a smooth opening or two then it's a sponge or tunicate. Also very good for the tank. That link for macroalgae is located in the Reefkeeping Tips thread below, if you ever need it again.
