I recently posted for advise on LED lighting. After some thought and some research, I'm considering a DIY kit from either rapidled or reefledlights. This way I can repair. So one question is should I go with a 12 or 24 led? Tank is 30"L x 18"W x 12" deep. Any other insight on these kits or DIY builds would be great.

If you are going to diy it I would call jeffatpm (Kevin) and meet up with him. He's super good and really nice. I'd take his advice.
For me, I was happy to go with a great company and fixture that I felt good with. But you can certainly diy if you want.

I think 24 would be the minimum.

What type of coral would you like in your tank?
Indefinite hiatus from sw aquariums.

Once I have my glorious return I'll set back up the following.
50 Gallon rimless cube.
180 Gallons mixed reef paradise
