so i bought a duncan from someone on this forum. when i bought it he said it was unhappy but was opening a little bit. i have had it for two days and yet to see a single tentacle.. it looks like the mouths are open as well.. i understood the risk i was taking with unhappy coral. may have jumped the gun on this one.. so at what point do i worry about death and when do i remove it??

Moving an already sick coral is risky. Do t toss him just yet. LPS have a way of coming back from the dead. Put him in low flow on the sand bed.

I would get rid of the ooz though, vacuum that bad stuff out. But are all the heads oozing? If not you might have some survivors. Frag off the "for sure dead" parts and it'll give you room for more.

Yeah i definately agree with ryan, my dendro got stung by something and the main head died, left it there for possible survival, and within a month 17 new heads came in on it and they are growing like crazy!!! So i would keep it, it very well could come back.
This is more than a hobby; its a lifestyle.

I picked up a duncan once that was almost all skeleton. Just a small blob in the center of a white skeleton. After pampering him for a bit, he came right back to life. He is now one of the largest duncan heads I have ever seen in my life ( larger than a 50 cent piece ) and has grown two new babies!
