Hi all-
I found a link to the forum through a sale ad on KSL, and figured I'd check it out.
I have had 100s of freshwater setups growing up, breeding and selling to stores and wholesalers. Got rid of everything and took a good long break.
Decided I wanted to try my hand at a reeftank a few months ago. A serious budget setup, but looking at going to a bigger tank when i find a good deal.
-Picked up a 30gal tank- used
-HOB Prism skimmer- used
-Biowheel filter (no biowheel in it, cycling clean pads in it a couple times a week, I'm sure to catch opinions on that one, but i like my theory and water conditions)
-Cheap 800gph powerhead
-Replaced t8 lights with a nice LED from Amazon
-The tank came with crushed coral, wish it were sand
-Also picked up ~30#s of live rock between Rock N Reef and Reef On. Reef on for pricing, and Rock N Reef for specific cool pieces
i have several frags i have gotten from different people and stores that seem to be doing well
Assorted zoa's, frogspawn, hammer, mushrooms
A couple bubble tip anemone
A pair of clowns that want nothing to do with my anemones (grrrrrrr)
a dwarf lion
And an assortment of snails and crabs for clean up, had a small breakout of hair algae lately and 2 new turbo snails had it knocked down in a day.
Looking forward to coming to some of the gatherings, and getting involved.
