    Posted: May 20 2013 at 9:45am
Guys!  This morning I got up to go to work and turned the front room lights on to put my shoes on and I must have spooked my black ice clown into my Maxi Mini Anemone.  I walked by and noticed something white in the anemone and it was starting to close up and realized it was my clown.  I immediatetly grabbed some tongs and tried to pry the clownfish from the grips of the anemone but i was not succesfull.  I tried for a couple of minutes and then figured it was too late and I did not want to hurt the anemone either so I left it and went to work.  I called my wife a couple of hours later to let he know what had happened and she said the clown was out of the anemone but did not look very good.  What do I do know to try to save the clownfish.  He is the only one in the tank so I'm not worried about him being picked on but this is in my little fluval edge so removing him is not going to be easy.  My thinking is trying to remove him would cause more stress than what he has already been through.  ANY IDEAS?  This is my all time favorite fish and I don't want to lose him. HELP!!!Cry

I recommend leaving him in there and maybe removing the anemone so there's no chance of him going back in it.

Sorry to hear about this. +1 to what Anne said. I would get rid of the anemone or put it in another tank or else even if the clown does recover the environment for it to happen again still exists. I have seen videos on youtube of this happening and usually it does not turn out well.

i had this happen to me on my baby snow flake clowns and they didn't make it. My older clowns never ever get even close the maxi mini anemones.

Aloha,

If it was my clownfish and anemone, I would have held the anemone with the tongs on each side of the clownfish and reached in with my other hand to forcefully pull the little guy out. The anemone would hardly be phased even if some tentacles were cut off or damaged.
The only anemone I might be afraid to do this with is Griffith's large carpet.

Very sorry for your loss. Cry
