So i will be setting up my tank here soon and after my tank is done Cycling and stable i would like to get a few gigantea anemone i have a friend i can get them from in California but they don't tend to ship well . So i am wondering is there any stores that carry them , and how much do they sell for in Utah thank you all and god bless

I currently have a 24 gallon JBJ all in one tank has two powerheads a phosphate reactor with the small bubble skimmer it is also powered by 2 X165 W LEDs and as a mixed reef

They look like a carpet anemone, most lfs carry them or can order them.

They are beautiful but tend to eat fish, even healthy ones, so I kind of stay away from Carpet Anemones. I know someone that was cleaning a tank and got too close. It wrapped itself completely around his hand. He had some trouble extracting his hand, was sick for a few days and the hand was swollen and sore for weeks. Just in case you didn't know these tidbits of information about them.

P.S. Just FYI, the tank start-up Nitrogen Cycle can be practically avoided. We know how to bypass it. You knew that right? My thread about it: and Bob Carlson's thread (Bob is a 40 year veteran reefkeeper):

Yes i am well aware about the carpet sting this is the one of two Anemone i have had great susses keeping them and are by far my favored and next in line would me H.Mag witch are also amazing but to tend to walk much more then the gig anemone . I am going to go read about nitrogen cycle about how i can speed it up because i thought you had to have live rock and i don't want to put live rock in my tank because of past pad experience i have introducing Pest and lost of PO4 . you can see my carpet i use to have in the middle

Nice pics. I think they are beautiful. Adam was possibly the first person I remember hearing from about the misdeeds of a Carpet Anemone. I believe he announced here on this forum that his Carpet had eaten a healthy Damsel that had been hosting in it.

Thanks I really enjoyed him when I had them, but when I got them they were all orange they stayed orange so I got them their Gig anemone and they turn black like that

I love carpet anemone if you have the space. You are right about them not always shipping well so don't let them sit in the bag any longer than you must. while treating them is possible (I've done it) it takes a lot of work and prep. Costs vary depending on size color and the level of need for the person to sell the the animal :) Most seem to be $100 plus for tan colored Nems. A bright green/yellow one might be $300. Blue or Red ones are up from there.
