We purchased this zoa yesterday and it's not really opening. It's been in the tank for close to 24hrs is this normal? Also... Does anyone know what this red stuff is that is all over some of our rock? Thanks! Sorry I'm a newbie.

My husband thinks the red may be just the color of some of our rocks, but I don't think so..

I've had zoas/Palys stay closed for over a week when new don't freak out about that. Is there red on your sand bed also? It doesn't look like Cyano in the picture.

Use a turkey baster if it blows off then most likely it's cyano bacteria

If we could see a full tank pic it would help with diagnosis.
Are there other button polyps in the tank?
