I have these sponges appearing all over the back of my tank and in my sump. I am wondering what type of sponge it is and if they are good or bad to have. The tank has been up and running for about 9 months.

**Excuse the Copper Banded Butterfly he is a bit of a photo bomber**

Good. pineapple sponge. usually a sign of good water quality. They appear in low flow areas like sumps. too many may clog intakes so you'll want to watch for that.
