My RBTA is getting a bit to big for the rockwork he lives on. I would guesstimate his disc around 12-14 inches. Normally i give him a silverside 2-3 times a week. I hear that feeding them alot will help convince them to split. I've also seen youtube videos of people taking shears and cutting them in half (scares me). Has anyone had success in helping theirs to split?

Sounds like it will split soon if it's running out of space. Mine has split 5 times because it ran out of space.

If he is crowded and uncomfortable, he will move or split on his own. People cut or irritate them to split all the time, but this seems unusually cruel and unnecessary to me. Not to mention it often results in loss all together.

I definately dont want to harm it. Im just getting a bit worried as the tentacles get a bit closer to my koralia everyday. The other day i saw someone on here posted a picture of his pump he had put plastic canvas over, i should probably do that...

You could physically remove him from the rock, or move the rock itself if you are worried.... that would be way less harmful than forcing a split.

I dont see removing him the rock, his foot is inside a small cave, i may have to move some rockwork around so that he doesnt sting any corals. I dont want to FORCE him to split, but i was thinking maybe if i feed him more i could CONVINCE him to split on his own. But moving some rocks is still probably the best way to keep everything happy.
