I like reading the tank build threads so much I thought I would share my new build with everyone also.  I am putting together a 150 gallon tank (72x18x28).  I will be shutting down my 60, 37, and 14 gallon tanks and combining them into this one.  So far all I have purchased is the tank.  Thanks to Brad at the Aquarium!  The stand will likely come from Richins Carpentry (My wife had plans for this one).  Custom 50 gallon sump built by me.  Lights will be 3 AI Sols that I already have.

Here is a picture to start things off.

Yes, But no scratches yet.  Smile  For those that have been to my house it is going to go at the top of the second floor landing where the 60 gallon currently resides.  This is viewable from the main living/kitchen area on the main floor and from the second level also.  I can't hardly wait to move it up the stairs.  1/2 inch glass is heavy!

I didn't realize they had realsed Angry Birds Oceans yet. From the expression it looks like there may still be some graphics issues to address. That is an awesome sea turtle. Tongue

The kids are little swimmers for sure!

Sump has been purchased.  I found a good deal on a commercially made one after all.  It is an all acrylic 50 gallon that is 54x16x16 that will work well.

Karen and I had a great meeting with Adam at Richins Carpentry today about our stand requirements/wants.  Now we wait and see what Dion comes back with for a price.  The color we picked is called "Moody Blue".

As far as the clowns go I am going to have to sell one pair of the four.  I am going to try and keep my Phantoms, Premium Picassos, and Fiji Pink Skunk pairs.  The pink skunks get along great with a pair of ocellaris in my 37 gallon currently so I don't think there will be an issue.  I have some creative rock work planned.  In my head it looks good, well see when I put it together.

Too soon to tell.  I had a IM 30w tablet led over it until yesterday.  Whatever sold first was leaving.  The tablet led sold, so I switched to this spare AI SOL white.  Algae was growing fine under  the other LED.

Its on reverse daylight/tank light cycle.

I spoke with Adam about it.  He was kind of stumped.  It developed a lack of buoyancy control and in one day it turned from appearing fine/eating to dead.  Not sure what happened.

I added a small snowflake eel. In one day it kicked out the pistol shrimp/ goby pair and stole their home. I even introduced it 6 feet away.   Oh well. They moved to the other side of the tank and are building a new home. Hopefully this eel is as nice as the last one I had.   Also picked up a royal gramma basslet. This little guy is in qt.

Tank Update:  Stock list updated. Added a few new fish and lost a few.

My neighbor fish sitter "forgot" to feed the tank for three days.  I came back to a missing pistol shrimp and a dead royal gramma.  I think the trigger found some food with the shrimp.  The gramma was being consumed by the clean up crew.  The yellow prawn goby was missing his friend and did not build a cave since.  It died yesterday of unknown causes.  I found its body stuck to a MP10.

The trigger and foxface got into some sort of argument yesterday.  The trigger appears to have won as the foxface now has two bite marks on its dorsal fin that look trigger mouth shaped.

The eel is acclimating well.  Trigger is eating well.  Added some more poison to the tank with the pair of striped blennies.

As you can see by my stock list I tend to put "not reef safe" animals in my reef tank.  I had the tank set up for a stingray.  I didn't feel like trying another so when a small shark became available I went for it.

No need to "waste" the prime large sand bed and caves.  So I added a 6 inch black banded cat shark.  Acclimating nicely I think.

Wait till I show you the new zoa colony I picked up today.  They are crazy colored, never seen before, by me at least.  Red/pink center with a blue ring then a long green skirt.  I was excited to find them.

Also picked up a new utter chaos frag and new frog spawn colony today.

Tank update:  6 inch black banded cat shark went carpet surfing a week ago. Cry  Not cool at all.

Good news is, I replaced the shark with...another shark.  Smile  This one is a very friendly hand fed 14 inch black banded cat shark.  Settled in nicely and made a home at the back of one of the available caves.

In the last week I added several gorgonian varieties, sponges, a few new zoanthids.  I also refreshed the clean up crew with some more snails and hermits.  I think the tank is filling in nicely.  I have a few surprises for another time in quarantine.

Here are a few camera phone photos taken in the last week, most from today.

I'll upload some more later, time for dinner.  I have about 40 more ready.  Most of my lifestock was sleeping so I will have to shoot during the day.  I was trying to capture the 'night life' like my decorator crab, but he decided to remain hidden last night.

For you photo guys these were all shot with a Sony A850 with 50mm macro lens at f8, 1/200, iso 200.  Three off camera strobes used for lighting making these "daylight" photos. Two lights from above tank with beauty dish modifiers and one to camera right with a 60 inch octobox.  The tank lighting was running at 1% royal blue on the AI sols so this lighting had no effect on the image lighting.  Many of the inhabitants were no shows for the shoot as they fell asleep and did not make an appearance.  I will shoot them another time.

Tank Video that I took today. and a few new cell phone pics. Ignore the sound of the kids playing loudly in the background.  I also exchanged some circulation pumps out.  I added two WP25's and two WP10's along with my two MP 40's.  I have two more WP10's on order to replace one more Tunze running on the right back corner.

When my pumps are all installed how I want I will have four WP10's on the back wall and a MP40/WP25 combo on the right and left sides (one of each on each side).

Thanks guys!   I am sad about the Blenny also.  I can't see him in the overflows or in the sump.  He may have traveled to the sump, as he did like to hang out high in the tank by the overflows.  He was doing well, as were the Mandarin and Clown.  The eel may have got them, but there are many smaller easier targets that are fine. I highly doubt it was the shark.

I don't have a close-up of my blue sympodium. I like it a lot.  Jackie has some also.  Mine looks just like the images you see on the web in a search though.

Thank you! being a photographer I was stumped by how you got such up close fine detailed vivid shots. Time to get myself a macro lens and experiment. By the way, beautiful pictures.

I think the death and destruction is finally over.  This was the most depressing event that I have ever had with fish keeping.  All previous fish died except the snowflake eel and matted filefish.  The banded cat shark jumped out of the pool last Saturday and was out of water for an unknown number of hours.  I put him back in and he held on for two days before dying.

Take Two begins...  I will be adding to the display again on June 14th.

The current stock list is as follows:
