I picked up the CADlights versa 42 a couple weeks ago from Jerry at Reef On. Absolutely love the size and shape of this tank. It is all starfire glass and made fairly well, hubby did take a slice out of his finger on the bottom of the tank due to the glass not being flush or buffed. I just got all the stuff in it last night so I will update soon. We are fixing the plumbing as I wanted to keep my pump I have but the lines were so small it blew the hose off the pump last night:( and I had a bunch of water all over! Hopefully we will get that fixed today and I will be up and running fully. Updates to come... Equipment List: I used a lot of the equipment I had running on the 100G tank on this build. It was still ticked off seems my lights weren't on when I put it in and getting use to the flow in the area I put it. Trying to decide on what fish to add to this tank. It comes with a glass top which I don't plan to use and I really hate the look of the netting stuff so I will need to choose fish that would be less likely to jump. I'm thinking 1 or 2 clowns, hopefully a pair of bangaii cardinals and.... It's supposed to be 18" high 18" deep and 30" long when we were measuring it it's only 29.5" long and about a quarter of an inch smaller on the other sizes as well. ------------- Jackie Stuver "wait these aren't the happy Hawaiians oompa doompa godly heaven on your face zoas? We went on a vacation for 4 days to San Francisco and Monterey for our 19th wedding anniversary. Had an amazing time. Came home sold half my torch and the green trachy plan to get a clam at some point. Tank looked great when I got back so I am happy. Nope and i dose about 30-40 ml of alk and cal and 20ml of mag every couple days. November update: I added my jebao RW-4 a few weeks ago as I was getting some algae but honestly I am not sure it has helped so I have turned it off for a few days to see if there is any difference as I hate seeing it in the tank. I have sold a few pieces of coral and added a few others. Added a bunch of snails and a Halloween hermit crab, I still need to add a few more hermits I think but for the most part they have taken care of the algae I was having issues with on the rocks. I am still getting some diatom algae which is frustrating seems I sold 4 fish and lightened the bioload. I think I just need more sand snails. I have a conch and a few stomatellas but the Christmas wrasse I sold took care of a lot of my snail population. Front to back I have: Blue + Purple + Blue + Blue+ Blue+ Blue + Purple + Aquablue Special Right now the 4th and 5th bulb aren't working because the ballast went out, ATi has excellent customer service and got me a new one but my hubby needs to install it still so normally the Aquablue Special is in where one of those middle Blue+ is but seems that isn't working I moved it to the back which I am actually liking but we will see once those two are working again. Obviously my tank isn't missing the light of those bulbs seems it was overkill anyway but I just upped the percentages on the other 6 for a bit until that ballast is replaced:) Right now the channel that has two blue bulbs is running at 55% and the one that would normally have the other 6 bulbs is running at 50% running 4 of the 6 bulbs. ------------- Jackie Stuver "wait these aren't the happy Hawaiians oompa doompa godly heaven on your face zoas? Alright finally a full tank shot update. I have been slacking when it comes to updating. The tank is just over 10 months old now! I was having a few issues with some LPS heads dying or getting stung so I sold a few things, moved a few things around and hopefully it is under control. I need to get back to weekly water changes it just doesn't seem to be happening right now. So I think I get one in every 3-4 weeks:/ Anyway I added a large lyre tail anthers that a local was selling (mean little bugger, bit me already) and a starry blenny that I love watching. I haven't seen my pom pom crab in weeks but I'm hopeful it's still alive. Moved my powerhead to the side wall last night after I cleaned it so we will see if I like it better there. On that note here's some pics. Also I changed my salt with the last water change from the instant ocean purple box to the orange reef crystals box. It must contain a lot of alk and mag! My alk went up to 9.8 and my mag that was finally dropping is back up to roughly 1640. New FTS for July, I had to move a few things around, my neon green bubble coral has gotten huge and managed to sting the rest of my dwindling florida ricordia mushrooms that I had on a large rock so I was only able to save 2 from that rock. Needless to say I moved all of them and put the bubble coral in the front corner where it can't do as much damage. A major user of Mg is Coralline Algae. Coralline Algae grows better in not so bright light. In the oceans surf zone, I have found that Coralline Algae thickly covers the lower, shaded, underside areas of rocks, caves and shaded overhangs. We can mimic that, to accelerate Coralline Algae growth, by using only the dawn and dusk lighting for most or all of the day for weeks at a time.
