Just a reminder on the importance of a spare.
Nobody drives around without a spare tire for their car. Which in a way is silly. It's not like you're likely to get in big trouble without it.
Now with aquariums- it's also not needed, but not a bad idea. For instance I run seven light fixtures all the same. Not a bad idea to have an 8th. I also run three identical pumps, might as well have a 4th. Well tonight a pump went out. Switched it in 10 minutes. All is well. I've had that spare for years.

Another thought. On my main tank, I run three pumps. Not only on separate outlets, but on separate circuits.

I actually switched to my spare about 5 months ago and I couldn't believe how stressed out I was for 3 months until I got another one to put on the shelf. I've always had a spare and never had to worry until then.
