It is quite interesting. Researching it those that have small patches love it. Those that have a tank dominated and decimated by it loath it. There doesn't seem to be any natural predator to kill it if it gets out of hand.

I have a 220g tank, sump, lights, skimmer, etc (currently up and running) that I’m taking down. I will make a package deal if someone is interested or sell items separately. The tank is a standard 220 with dual overflows as seen in the picture ($500). The sump is 55g (36" x 18" x 20") ($150). I have an ASM G-2 Skimmer with Sedra 3500 pump (new impeller for $200). I also have 3 MH 400 watt ballasts, lights (only 2 months of use on each bulb (14k Hamilton’s) for $125 each light) and 1 MH 250 watt ballast, lights (only 1 month of use on bulb (14k Hamilton’s) for $125). In addition to this I have various equipment including the tank/sump plumbing, return pump, powerheads, etc. Text me if interested and I can supply more details/pictures. Text me 3zero7-389-82zero7.

Cloudy water, Algaeand parasites lead to the frustration of many hobbyists. The main reason whythese problems occur is that each multiplies quickly; free floating in thetank, unseen to the naked eye. Only when it’s too late, the hobbyist becomesaware of their presence. By adding a UV Sterilizer into your aquarium, you canminimize the risk of these problems occurring.

Introduce Yourself : Newbie need coral recommendations

While there are lots of good beginner corals, id suggest you do some research on what you like first. A lot of people will recommend Green Star Polyps or Xenia as a great beginner coral. And it is. its bullet proof. But its also invasive and will take over. Like another user suggested, i'd start off with some candy canes (they come in lots of colors), maybe a toadstool, or some zoanthids or palys. Make sure when you get zoanthids or palys that you get the varieties that aren't invasive. Generally the ones to stay away from are the nuclear green palys, common brown button polyps, yellow palys. They grow fast, and you'll be tired of them when you get more colorful corals.
Once you want to get into more intermediate corals i'd suggest favias/favites, some euphyllia like frogspawns, and hammers, and maybe even some beginner SPS like monti caps, and birdsnests.
Good luck!

I think zoas are a great starter coral. They have been relatively forgiving to me and are some of the most colorful corals you can get. I would also recommend to go light on how many fish you put into a 16 gal tank. Maybe just a clownfish and a goby or something. You'll only create headaches if you overstock a small tank.
