    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=96">jfinch</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 10886<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March&nbsp;07&nbsp;2006 at 12:53pm<br /><br />I can't access RC from work so I can't comment on the referenced thread, but Randy has written a couple articles on a DIY balanced additive.&nbsp; The first article used only Dowflake, baking soda and epsom salt.&nbsp; This is an ok additive but it's still not really balanced ionically (if that matters?).&nbsp; The second article he wrote added MgCl2 to the mix and this makes the additive much better and balances the major ions to seawater ratios.&nbsp; I'd suggest the second method over the first.]]>
