will they create a wave that crashes over the tank? yes
 
But- they are so adjustable that any concern you have can be prevented and fine tuned to your liking....best purchase I have ever made for my tank...

I have a Mr.Aqua Rimless tank that is 24x18x18 I keep it on reef crest at around 80% and the flow is great. I'm a little worried abou how much one of these would blow my sand around in my 30 rimless cubes? I'm also worried that if I have it turned up for wave making is it going to make water dump over the edges of my tank?
 
If you guys have any input I would appreciate your thoughts.

I don't have one, but I think there are just so many modes and settings that you might just want to go through all of them, and see what you like best. Also, obviously you'll want to pick the mode(s) that is best for your tank's inhabitants.
