One at each end. the live sand is between them. <br><br>The only thing I would do different would be to add a large dividerbetween the livesand and the return pump.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1050">jeffras</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 8459<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> October&nbsp;04&nbsp;2005 at 3:57pm<br /><br />My setup has 2 acrylic boxes: One for the drain from the main tank and one for the return pump.<br>The boxes are around 4deep X 4high X (whatever width of sump).<br><br>This works great because the drainage box has a closed top that I amable to set my skimmer on and the rest is pure refugium. Add a light,live sand, live rock, macro, and some mangroves and your set!<br><br>Make sure you leave enough room for a DSB (3-4 inches) if you go with the refugium. <br><br>Jeff<br>]]>

You need to factor buffer room for main tank drainage in case of a power outtage, in sump&nbsp;filtration (protein skimmer, etc.) and then use the remaining area as a refugium. I like to have as much of a refugium as possible, but that's just me.</P>]]>
