Its pretty much how you would expect it to be.
I have a big piece of vita-rock, so I can't remove it from the water. Super glue gel is the way to go. It is never perfect, because the gel starts to set as soon as it hits the water, but you just have to be quick.
I usually test out where I want to put the coral first, make sure there will be a good amount of surface contact. Then put a good amount of glue on the bottom of a coral and then quickly stick it to the rock. It's never as secure as I might like it, but rarely do my corals fall off.

Scrub the area where you are going to glue the frag with a clean toothbrush. Then clean and dry the area of the frag where the glue is added. Use only the gel type of super glue. Apply the glue to the frag and then quickly push to the rock in the tank. Hold it as still as you can for a minute, unless it can hold itself in place. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It gets easier with experience and it also helps to have an assistant.

After cleaning the rock, and putting the glue on the frag, I like to press it to the rock, twist, pull it away, etc... until it starts sticking to the rock and the frag (the glue stays sticky for a little while..like 5 seconds). But if I don't work the clue into the rock it doesn't seem to hold as well. Once it is sticking to both, then I push it down tight to the rock and hold for about 10-15 seconds and slowly let go.

We use the Gel super glue from the dollar store and it works great! We have tried many different kinds of glue and we found this works the best. Pam

I like the .4 oz locktite brand that has squeeze handles, and you can pull the bottom out when it's 'used up' unscrew the cap remove the little tube to get some more glue out of it. I also clean and dry as best I can the frag, and do the pull/twist method until the glue begins to stiffen up, then hold until it will stay without tipping (15-30 sec).

One tip I have is, if the frag plug is the type with a stem on the bottom take some side dikes and snip off the stem first before gluing it to the rock work. Looks much better.
