I have 2 durso drains that I made and wanted to know if I make the air hole
on top bigger will it drain slower? I had it working for a day or two but then
it drains down the over flow too low. I made the hole just a bit bigger and
then it worked again for a day or two and did the same thing?

Joe,

What alot of folks suggest is drilling a small hole through the cap and pipe so that when you turn the cap you can limit the amount of air that enters the pipe. This makes it alot easier to fine tune the stand pipes.

I don't know the answer, but as far as it working for a day or two, the main problem I have, with the hole on top, is salt creep closing up the hole and making it slurp very loudly.

If the hole is too big it will limit the the durso's flow capacity.  If the hole is too small the water will cycle up and down, breaking the syphon.

If you could post pics or do a drawing, we might be able to be more helpful.
