That clam may be a hippy from the sixties.
Of the things you said that you are planning to do, none will have any effect on the algae growing on the clam shell. I agree with Gahlenf, most likely there are too few snails in the aquarium.
But the easiest way to remove the algae quickly, is to rub/twist an old (clean) toothbrush over the edge of the clam shell. The clam will retract and not be harmed but will actually appreciate the cleaning. 
Moving a tank is a major cause of new algae growth simply because the biological filtration gets disturbed and nutrients are kicked up. Give it a few weeks. Adding PO4 remover in with the AC will help.
Are the Alk, Ca and Mg within range? The slowing of shell growth resulting from low levels of those components allows hair algae to grow where it should not.
