Recently picked up a 210 in great shape. Just needs resealing. (I dont mind I have time) I have resealed a 75, 55, 20 gal leaky tanks before with good luck with GE window & door type 1 silicone clear. This tank is 29" tall so I thought I would get some feedback out of some of you who have resealed a large aquarium before. Will GE 1 W/D work? Here is my process:
1- vacume and clean old sand. 2 scrape old silicone 3- Clean with alcohol let dry 4-clean with water let dry 5- Tape edges (for factory look.) 6- put new silicone on 7-let dry for 2 days NOTE I will not be taking Glass/ Top bottom supports completely apart. But just seams. I have been told not to take top/bottom off before as it will break them getting them apart.
Also Has anyone ever moved these on Appliance dolly's without having seal problems? Would I be smart just waiting to seal after I move it with the dolly to its home?
buy the good stuff you dont want to do it again after you have sand and rock in there. been there done that and bought the new carpet and that was just a 55.
