Well I just put a new Acan head in my tank, walked away for a half hour, and now he is split in half, just by the mouth.  Seems that something took a liking to him.  Heres what I got, what do you think did it?

Powder brown tang
clark clown
2 tomato clowns
3 coral banded shrimp (huge)
emerald green crab
lots of hermits (blue and red)

My bet is the shrimp, what do you all think?

Think he will make it, if the mouth is still intact on one side?

Whatever it was doesnt look like he ate it, just ripped it in half.

I'd think for more the emerald over the shrimp...I had an emerald that decided that zoanthids were tasty, but I dunno.  I hope it pulls through.

Acans are extremely hardy. If they have any flesh left they will grow back if in a healthy system. Just watch and see if you see anything around it. I think the emerald crab may have tried it out. I wouldn't be surprised though if the tang thought it looked like a tasty treat.

If you wanted you could take it out and just cut it apart and then put both pieces back in the tank in different places. To cut it like that though, that is the shrimp or crab.

Was one side attached and maybe its own weight pulled it apart?

This morning I went to check on the corals, and the entire thing is gone, base and all.  It was jammed into a wedge, but somehow it was pulled free.  I will have to pull apart my rocks after work to get it out (If there is anything left).
