Topic: Official New Product Result Thread Posted: February 16 2012 at 2:21pm |
We really want this to be about the study and discussion of the New Products we are releasing. Any arguments between people will be deleted. This is for people to post results of what they have seen. Results are Results, whether they prove it works or prove it doesn't.
In order for them to be counted as results you must have descriptions of your tank and system as well as what kind of corals are being kept. You must note any changes in how the tank is being maintained, and it is best if you have pictures. Remember this product was designed for SPS corals, and dosing the Accelerant is optional for the SPS to show growth. The Accelerant does however help with coral color as it adds many Bio-Available Elements.
I will also post information about other products we are working on and a little more of the science behind those. As for the Process of how these products are made, I am unable to discuss it, Due to the non disclosure agreement. Try the products, they work as described, and here in this thread I will post as we show some of the testing and methods of testing that prove it.

Ok here are some quick before and after pictures. Let me first start by saying that We had been getting Great growth out of the show tank over the last Few months. Since the beginning of Oct when we finally got the dosing pumps dialed in and running right (and removed the Cal Reactor). In Sept we hooked up the dosing pumps and crossed the lines, which we figured out 2 weeks later.
The first picture was a frag put into the show tank in Oct as a 1 inch frag, so you can see that we were getting good growth out of it before adding the new products. I have also been buying a ton of new sps corals to put into the show tank, Wild Caught/Mari Cultured and Aquacultured to see their reactions.
The New Test will begin on Monday!!! With pictures being updated. We will keep the standard two part on its regular dosing schedule throughout each week so that we know it is a constant.

Jerry because i'm fairly familiar with that particular tank what how much 2-part are you dosing? And is the color change on the blown up pic just the exposure you think?

The colors are noticeably better on every coral in the tank, I adjusted the exposure so you could see the coralites better. As for the standard 2 part, we have them on dosing pumps and are currently adding 60.5ml of Calcium Recipe 2, and 77ml of Alk Recipe 2. This has been increased an average of 1-2 minutes of dosing(at 1.1 ml per minute) every week for the last 4-5 months, with weekly tests making sure the Cal stayed right around 450-460ppm, the Alk Stayed around 9-9.5dkh.
At the same exposure levels you would be able to see that the tips of this particular acro are Brighter Blue than I have ever seen "IT" (added after reading through).
We also received 2 Wild Acros Today, and 4 Maricultured that were added to the tank(after extensive dipping and checking). I will get a couple of pictures of these up so you can see their progress.
We got in a few Maricultured last week (specifically asking for the supplier to send us colored down or brown ones, yeah prob a first for them) and have had multiple requests and have cut frags of them for customers after having them for as little as 5 days. In other words, they have colored up nicely.

Jerry - Do you still have some of the product left? We were planning on getting the four set of the product tomorrow when we were down here. :)

Yes we have almost sold out of the first batch-almost 400 bottles, The next batch will have labels and thus be a little more expensive. Currently we are selling it just to cover the cost of production and bottling. Regular retail Price will prob land somewhere around $15-$20 per bottle, with a price break for buying the package of 3 or 4 bottles at a time. Also if you turn your bottles back into us in Great condition, we will give you $.25 off per bottle.

So we have almost sold out of the first run of the product, and have had some incredible feed back. Post more pictures, and we will as well.
We also got back more info on the products, as well as the labels done. On the labels we will be including the Nano Particulate Range for Each product using a Zeta Size Meter and had some awesome readings with a Nano Particulate size averaging below 200nm.

Jerry,
How are you getting the readings? Are you taking them or do you have a lab getting the results? how do they even measure that accurately? Also can you tell us what the actual recommended dose is for the ACC and how to properly ensure we are maximizing its potential?
Thanks
Dan

Curious as to how and why zeta potential is important in our reefs and what makes this product's zeta potential different than other ALK, mag, Ca additives (besides concentration of course.) If that information is classified I completely understand.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the Zeta Potential measured in mV (millivolts) not nm (assuming its nano meter)? From my understanding I don't think the Zeta Potential is a way of measuring the size of the particles but more so the motion of the particles.

The answer is yes, I have the exact read outs at the store, and yes they were tested in a lab using a Zeta Size Meter, the read out is in nm as I understand it, but after talking to the lab we will just be giving the sizes in nm. I will update the above post with those exact numbers when I get to the store today.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes more sense now because I know the zeta sizer can meausre the size of the solution as well as the zeta potential of the solution.

There are a few more pictures from tonight. There are also Red Planet pictures on the facebook page.
We have found that anywhere we cut frags heals over with a week, and within 2-3 weeks there is a 1/2 branch where the frag was cut.

Awesome growth!!! I found this little video for those who are a bit confused on what a nano-particle is: http://www.sixtysymbols.com/videos/goldnanoparticle.htm

Interesting video man! However the "nanoparticles" in that video are over 100,000X larger than the carbonate/calcium/magnesium ions (or "nanoparticles") in your everyday standard additives.

yea, but it gives a good idea of what they're referring to. Those in the video are also referred to as nano-crystals since they are built of 125K gold particles (not karat haha). Those ions that are refered to in this thread are not in crystalline form so they are indeed much smaller than those presented in the video.
