So we have a 55 that has a really thin strip of silicon left on all 4 panels of the tank. We've tested it and it doesn't leak, but I feel it would be better if we put more silicon on it. Let me explain in more detail, where all four panels meet the bottom panel the silicon is thick but the silicon joining the side panels is thin. Like less than 1/2. If we do re seal it do we take the old off and put new on or just clean it really good and then put new on over the old?
cut all the old silicone out, clean everthing really well then put new silicone in. you do not want to go over the old because new silicone does nor stick well to the old. I recently did my 150. lmk if you have any questions.
It is a lot of work to remove the old silicone , but the pay off is how well it looks. Also denatured alcohol is what i used to make sure no old residue was left on the glass. Just be careful not to cut between the 2 edges of glass where they meet. I also used painters tape to make the edges crisp and clean . If you have any questions hit me up.
