Tank Specs-
10 gallon Nano plus 2.5 gallon refugium
18 pds live rock
1-Bicolor Blenny
1-Yellow Clown Goby
2- Blue Leg Hermits
1-Scarlet Hermit
2-Margarita snails
1-Astrea sanil
1- Cerith snail
Misc soft Corals and Mushrooms

Ok eventually once my tank is a little older I would like to add a six line wrasse.
My hermits and snail do not seem to like my sand much, they are always on the rocks. So I am thinking of getting a shrimp to help cleanup the sand from the left over food. Plus I think it will add a little more diversity to the tank.

Some questions--What kind of shrimp would prefer to clean the sand instead of rock?
How much of a bioload do shrimp but on a system (Will it prevent me from adding the wrasse later)?

What shrimp is recommended with what I mentioned abouve that stays small enough for a Nano?

I have seen some shrimp in the LFS that are pretty big.

Some I think may work but not sure if they stay in the sand mostly
*Sexy Shrimp
*Cleaner Shrimp
*Peppermint Shrimp

I seen a few cleaner and peppermint shrimp in the LFS and some seemed awfully big, but liveaquaria.com says 2".

Thanks for looking,
Rob

I have a peppermint in my nano and it works great. Its a great scavenger and whenever I feed it gobbles up a ton of the excess food off of the rocks, sand, etc.  And on top of all that it ate all my aiptasia in less than a week.  I am also getting a cleaner shrimp in a week or so but haven't had any experience w/ one of those yet.  Its really personal preference on which kind you think looks better. I personally like the cleaner shrimps but if you have aiptasia like I did a peppermint can be invaluable. I say get a peppermint or a cleaner for your 10.

Thanks Shaggy, I thought the peppermint shrimp I seen in the LFS were pretty big, but I also did some searching around Nano-reef.com and they seem to like them also.

I will probably get the peppermint then, but is the bioload of a shrimp equivelent to a fish, or do they cleanup more then they put out? And if I add a shrimp will it be OK when I add the wrasse or will 3 fish and 1 shrimp be to much for a 10gallon Nano?

Thanks,
Rob

Look around a little.  I have seen very small peppermint shrimp.  Of course they do grow, but you could at least start out small.  I say do Peppermint shrimp too.  My reasoning is that they are cheap.  Don't pay more than $6 for them.  Sometimes you can get a deal at around $3.  Of course this is for the small ones.

Thanks Agian for the info and help. I will pick one up today. I figure I will also have a larger tank later this summer so he will be in a new home before he gets too big.

If you haven't gotten one already I saw some really small ones at the aquarium and also at the pet factory. The pet factory had them for cheaper, though, so you may want to check them out there first.

I called the Pet Factory and they were all out. I swung by Fish 4 U and picked one up. Fish 4 U is starting to become my favorite LFS. Even though the are further, I just swing by on my way home from work. They are really nice, they give the club members discounts, and they have some of the better prices I found around.

Thanks for all the info, I have a drip going to get him acclimated, but trying to figure out how long to do this for
