I am tring to decide between dual 150w, dual 175w, and dual 250w metal halides.  I still want my LPS to do well but want to start doing SPS and clams.  Right now I just have 4 55w PC and 4 65w PC and my softies and LPS are loving it.  I was thinking that the 250 might be best because I have a 48 in 90g tank that is quite deep.  Anyone have good or bad experiences and found out what might be best for me.  Thanks -DAN

I have dual 250s on my 90g. Works great, perfect amount of light with my VHO actinics. I've heard (though never seen) that the dual ended 150w lamps put out as much light as the single ended 250w lamps.  If this is true, I'd go with 2 dual ended 150s.

You can never have toooooo much light. If you ever upgrade the tank size youll be glad you have extra. I am running 3 250 watt mogul base bulbs on my 120 and it is also 48 long.
I have flying monkeys and I'm not afraid to use them.

180 gallon money pit that I love.....

I would just go either double ended 250's, or else make the jump and get 400's. You will always will wonder how much better your SPS would do under more lighting....
