so i have this pink stringy stuff growing in my refugium and i have no idea what it is. i have not looked for it anywhere but thought i would just ask here and would hopefully get an answer rather quickly. it really looks like a cotton ball that is pink. it is more stringy than a cotton ball if that makes sense. i cant get a picture of it, it looks horrible when i try. any ideas?
Asparigopsis? Is that the right spelling? I hate the stuff, but Suzy may have a different opinion. Julian Sprung told me to let it grow in the 'fuge, unless it starts to get out of control in the main tank. Turbo snails help to control it.
When I saw it start growing I pulled it out by hand. Some weeks later I did it again and I haven't seen any for a few months. I never saw anything eat it.
its neither of those but thanks for the help. i looked for it today and didnt see it anymore. the last time i checked was about a week ago when i cleared my refugium of some chaeto. it seems to be gone now. if it comes back i will try to get a decent picture. thanks guys!
I think I might have what Suzy posted. I left it alone to see how it went and then it started choking out other things. It's just in the 'fuge but it breaks apart easily and gets into the tank - the tang isn't impressed but will taste it. The turbo doesn't touch it. I've been making headway in getting it out by hand but it does break apart.
