So I don't know too much about all this but I have a lot of stuff sitting on top of my sand. I don't know if it is because I don't have much of a cleaning crew and that's because I have 2 eels that I haven't been able to get rid of. And I don't know if they have eaten my cleaning crew. My son suggested a sand sifting cucumber or should I buy more snails and crabs. There are a few in there but probably not enough. Do you think the eels are eating them. I have only some fish in there and no corals. How important is it to get rid of the eels.

the eels might eat the goby depending on size and type. But gobys are very cool to watch!

cucumbers dont sift the sand to much. They do a bit but not like gobys do. They will also release poison if they are scared or killed thus killing the whole tank. Have to be careful with them

I had pink and black one for about 3 months. it actually reproduced or split i don't know how it happens but i ended up with two. And the new small little guy decided to play in the power head and killed the tank. They don't release the poison often but just stating that they can.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm going to get rid of the eels and try the diamond goby and cucumber. Those eels are great to watch but wreak havoc in a tank.

Something else to look at is how much flow you have in the tank and where it is directed.....
