They seem to be a cheaper option as far as build goes. But until there is more data about them that is hard to judge.
You only get 60 degree optics and you don't get CREE LED's. So you will sacrifice performance and customizability for a cheaper price.
Still is fun to watch LED technology grow.

Is that usually the case with anything cheaper? I know if I buy a Corolla I don't get the performance or options I could get from a Camry. It doesn't mean it's a bad car. (Maybe Toyota is a bad example)
I think LED's will become as common if not more so than MH's and T5's in the next 5-10 years.

Haha, Toyota isn't a bad example, of course everything has bugs, but i would still buy a toyota over most car brands
I guess nano-reef.com and a couple of other sites will be doing some in depth testing later this month when they can get a hold of a few.

You can bank on the Nano community having them pre ordered. Reef Builders did a review on them already.

It's just a matter of time before it becomes a cheaper, better option.
It's like LCD. The technology has been around forever, alarm clocks, wrist watches etc. But producing high quality, multi function LCD crystals didn't catch on until recently with TV's and computer monitors. Now LCD is super cheap compared to what you would've spent 10 years ago.
The same thing will happen with LED's and has already started to a point. I know a lot of higher quality LED's are ending up in common light fixtures and even christmas lights. Soon we'll all be laughing at ourselves for using those bulky, hot and expensive MH fixtures.

I already laugh at those of you that still use MH technology!
Anyways I talked with Premium Aquatics and the new bulbs they have will go for $199.99 each. So they are only 2x what the PAR38 is.
