Thanks Burt, I like that method of approach with the turkey baster you mention. The screen I was considering was going to be placed well away from the actual drain itself. It would essentially be a full length screen wall placed about 3 inches away from the drain running up both sides. With a little silicon securing it in place, it should keep things in the bin. Who knows, perhaps Mark will help me figure out a good way to actually have a refugium in my sump.
My parents have a place in Coronado, so we are housesitting for them over the holiday

Nice place. We have a time share in Carlsbad and love it down there.

I agree with Burt. As I was writing and contemplating it just started to sound so familiar so I went back and took another look at the full view pic, and it hit me. Yes, I know your tank! Now I wish we had met... at least once! Sounds like you understood what I wrote. I'll take some time later to expand on some of it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Looking forward to seeing the pic of the sump. Take care, Mark

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well Mark, and everyone for that matter. I wish we'd had the opportunity to meet as well...at least you got to meet my better half, I'm guessing?
Thanks to all of you for taking time in your busy days to help out! I'm really excited to get my tank running how I've always wanted.
I'll look forward to you further comments Mark, but for now, I want you to focus on consuming lots of turkey!

Here's a video of my current setup. Sorry the video gets so crappy, I'm not sure why it does that. The original video is in HD and looks great, but after 3 attempts to upload it, I gave up and what you see is what you get.
Feel free to offer comments, I'm a newb that's trying to get to the sophmore level and start adding some SPS.
I finished the stand I refer to in the back room and my refugium, turf scrubber, and top off tank should all be online behind the wall by tomorrow or Friday. It will be much better! Now, just need to get the RODI through the crawl space and install a float valve and my life will become a lot easier.

Aiptasia usually go away after using kalk paste sqeezed into their mouth. Squirting some Vinegar at them sometimes works. Then a few hungry peppermint shrimp will eat the leftovers.
Looks like a good plan. Are you planning to keep the current sump going?

Thanks Mark, I'll look into the Kalk paste. What about Aptasia X?
Here's a video showing the lastest on the refugium and scrubber set up which are now behind the wall:

Aiptasia X : Never used it. Never needed to buy it. Other products work at almost no cost. A small amount of Ball Pickling Lime and a small bottle of White Vinegar are each less than a buck.
Kalk paste is very base whereas vinegar is acid. One way or the other, the Aiptasia gets burned to death.

I use berghia nudibranchs and peppermint shrimp to keep my tank aiptasia free. I always have thought the natural approach is the best one.

I used to use Joes Juice but aiptasia kept coming back. I added a couple peppermint shrimp and within a few weeks all traces of aiptasia were gone and I haven't seen a hint of one in 3 months. My Dad has a Copper Banded Butterfly Fish and he keeps the tank aiptasia free as well but it does also eat any feather dusters or other worms he can find.
I like these natural solutions because they work without any intervention from me. I have plenty to do without having to kill aiptasia myself.

I'd make more open sand and get some Caulerpa too.
