Santa just ordered a pair of those Odyssea 150w MH pendants for my 90g tank.  Merry Christmas to me! Big smile

I'll be replacing 2x96w of PC with them.  I've been watching for deals on used, retro or whatever, but I needed the small footprint and these seem to fit the bill where nothing else was popping up.  When they are in, I'll have 2x96w of PC supplemental (Mostly or all Actintic) as well as these guys, which have t5 Actintic built in, so I am expecting a significant light upgrade, even if these are more of a budget setup.

Suggestions for the install, setup or transition are welcome.

During the transition you will want to start with the halides on for maybe 4 hours the first couple days, then 6 hours, then 8, and so forth. Otherwise the sudden increase in light will cause your corals to bleach. You should also be ready to rearrange everything if needs be. When you up the light intensity that much some corals will prefer to be slightly shaded, but you'll also still need to meet their flow requirements as well. When I upgraded form 4 65watt pc's to 6 54w T5's I had to shade many LPS and even some SPS corals to keep them happy after a couple weeks. To put things in perspective when I was running PC's i gad to have any SPS in the top 4" of water just for them to survive, they weren't growing fast or well by any means. Now with T5's I can grow SPS on the sandbed 28" down from the surface of the water. So the amount of difference was huge. Just watch your tank carefully for bleaching in the coming days as you increase the time the lights are on and you should be fine.

Congrats! It's sometimes hard to believe how much better a tank can look with some improved lighting.

I'll be interested in seeing what you think of the lights from there.  I was looking at those as possible replacements for my Hamilton pendants for my frag tank.
