Topic: SE Idaho Reef Invitation Posted: March 26 2009 at 7:36pm |
I would like to welcome anyone who is interested to a very informal "reef" meeting on Friday, April 3rd at 7 pm. The meeting will be held on the campus of Brigham Young University-Idaho, Romney Building, Room 145 (Rexburg, Idaho).
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for those of us who live in "fish-store-poor" southeast Idaho an opportunity to connect with one another.
During the meeting, I also plan to give a short presentation on our 125G Indo-Pacific community aquarium, which you'll all have the opportunity to see in our small geology museum.
Light refreshments will be provided.
If you have any questions or need directions, please contact Forest Gahn at [email protected], or you can call me: 208 496 1900. Of course, you're also welcome to post questions on this message board.
Thanks, and I look forward to meeting anyone who is able to attend.

Forest-
I'd be happy to take your post and email it out to our entire list if you would like? I would love to see you get a great turnout for this.
Also, I just met someone in Idaho Falls this weekend. I'll put him in touch with you.

Forest,
Have you posted this on the Idaho Marine Aquarium Society site? I don't think I have seen it there, and we have a few people from SE idaho that visit there quite a bit.

Hi Adam,
That would be great--please do send the message to the membership list. Btw, please don't see this as competition for the WMAS or the IMAS--it's a very informal meeting! I just thought it would be a nice way to allow SE Idaho reef enthusiasts to get to know/support one another.
Have fun at the IMAS reef tour this weekend--I wish I was going!

Forest...I would love to attend but I will be in Boise for the IMAS meeting. I get over to ID Falls quite often and would love to join a meeting in the future. I know there are many people in SE Idaho into reefing.
Please keep us posted at IMAS.
Will
ps. I live in the Twin Falls area but have in-laws in the Shelly/Firth area.

Here is what a customer said while on hold Oh my gosh! Did you open the door? I told you not to open the door. Dre is in here completely naked and he's got freak'n Macaroni and Cheese in his hands.

Will,
Your message forced me to realize how poor my timing is--Certainly, I didn't want to schedule over the IMAS meeting! Moreover, I should really become more involved with that group. Honestly though, it's easier for me to attend the WMAS meetings--but even those are difficult to attend because of the distance and the fact that they occur during the week--when I have teaching obligations.
I would seriously considering changing the date to Saturday (4/4) if it didn't conflict with LDS General Conference--I would even postpone it a week, but I'll be turkey hunting in Iowa!
Please, anyone who would normally go to the IMAS meeting--give that priority! Surely there will be other opportunities for SE Idaho reef enthusiasts to get together locally.
However, if you normally do not attend the IMAS meetings due to time/distance issues, please feel welcome to gather at BYUI!

Forest, hey thanks for the call and for setting up a meeting. I will be there for sure if I dont have to go out of town next week for work. I am really excited to try and put something together so we could have a group around here. Ill spread the word to those that I know. Thanks again. Dustin

Hi Everyone,
If you are planning to attend the informal reef meeting on Friday night (7 pm, BYUI, Rexburg), could you please send me a PM? I just want to be sure that I have an appropriate amount of food.
Thanks, and I look forward to seeing anyone who can make it--we'll keep the halides on for you!
