Not sure what kind it was but they had them at aquatic dreams the other day I really want one. Are the reef safe? Does it depend on what kind or does that matter?
Stingrays eat invertebrates, and need a lot of open sand space (like at least 80% of the sandbed). I wouldn't keep a stingray in less than about 180 gallons. They have a lot of specialized needs. If you're wanting to keep one in a reef you'll have to work out a suspended reef to maximize the space the stingray can use to dig for food and move around.

Could you post a photo of the tank? That would help us make sure that a ray would do ok in your system. The real problem is that they need a lot of space. That's why most ray tanks you'll see are shallow but have large footprints, they just need a ton of open sand space.

I should have looked at your build thread , anyways I think if you set your tank up right it could be a great home to a smaller ray species. You'll need to keep the rockwork to a bare minimum and suspend it off of the sandbed but it's definitely doable!

hmm might have to think bout suspended rock then. I have hard enough time doin it regular let alone suspended lol. maybe I can look into it for couple days since I havnt put hardly any rock in the tank. Thanx guys.
