Well, if you get a little one and he's accepted, the eggs will start being fertile most likely.  I would suspect that if the female Tomato laid them, she probably did guard them already.  Maybe, maybe not.  So yes, there is a chance that she could become more aggressive in defending the nest if she also has a mate (and that also means you're contending with two Tomato Clowns vs. one).

Worst case scenario, you could remove the female to a 10 gallon tank and pair her up with a male there...that way you could watch the miracle of life without it causing havoc in your reef tank ;)
You only need to raise one...
