Does anyone have any idea what kind of coral this is.  It was hard to take a good pic.  Part of the coral has died and is black and I think I should know what is it so I know how to help it.

It's tough to tell w/o bigger pics but from the ones posted it could be an encrusting monti. If so it need high lighting and moderate flow to survive, along with proper alkalinity and calcium levels. Could you post your water parameters for us?

ok so i just tested my levels.  I dont have a test kit for PH, how important is that test and any idea how much one test is going to cost me?

salt- 1.026
calcium- 400
Akalinity- 143.2
phosphate 3
nitrate- 0
amonia- 0

I have a few other corals most of the other ones are doing great i do have one other one that is struggling also. I think this pic is a little better than the other one.
