my tank water is a bit cloudy.  i did a 20% water change and the salinity and calcium levels are good.  any reason why the water would be a bit cloudy??

thanks

It may just be a bactria bloom!
How long has it been setup?
How long has it been cloudy?
What are your water parameters?
Can you post a picture?

With it having been setup for only 6 weeks and having seen the tank I would guess it is a bactria bloom, which is a good think. The bactria help with the nitrate cycle. As long as it is a white cloudyness I would problable just let it be.

Is it a white cloudyness?
What are your nitrates?
What all is currently in the tank?

When setting up your tank did you use live sand, live water and/ or live rock?

A common factor leading to cloudy water is overfeeding.

No matter what the cause it would be wise to stop the feeding for at least 4 days and feed half as much from then on. Don't worry, everything will be fine, and actually improved because of the fasting.

I agree with Arthur that to help further we need the answers to those questions.

Sometimes it's an algae bloom, which is even more likely if the tank was started with the Four Live Components. As Arthur said, this is also a good thing because it eats up all the new tank pollution. Stopping the feeding will help but if it gets much greener, there are at least three ways to handle it (a skimmer is not one of them Embarrassed).
