QuoteReplyTopic: New anemone getting eaten! Posted: August 07 2009 at 8:46pm
I just got an anemone last night and within an hour a peppermint shrimp was eating some of the tenacles. I am not sure the type of anemone ... it is a bluish purple color with flourescent green tips. This morning it looked fine minus a few tenacles. Is this normal for the shrimp to taste it? Should I be worried and get the shrimp out?
On a side note the silly anemone has decided to park on the darker side of the tank under a ledge. Should I move it or let him move on his own?
I don't know about the shrimp, but I don't think moving it will do either of you any good. Our experience is that they go where they want like it or not! Also, by moving it you chance damaging it's foot, which is not a good thing.

Is there any chance something was wrong with those tentacles? Shrimp tend to munch on stuff like this when it is decaying. Iwouldn't think just 1 or 2 tentacles would be decaying and the rest of the anemone being healthy, but I don't know all that much about anemones.
Now to get the clown to host it! :) I told you about my chromis being a little aggressive... well the larger chromis won't let my clown near the anemone. Of course it doesn't help that the anemone picked Chromis Corner.
