peppermints breed very readily, and are pretty easy to raise the young with billions of rotifers

What about the shrimp that people use as feeder shrimp?  I remember someone posting about them a month or so back, saying they bought about 200 as feeders and they were hoping they would breed in the time the fish were waiting to consume.

i always hear of droping bs eggs in a sump and they will hatch and grow i find this completely untrue as i have tried it several times. if you could get ahold of some adult bs and keep them in like a guppy breeder in the sump they might reproduce.
pitiful guppy tank.

I was just thinking it would be fun to have some shrimp breed in my sump (I did this with cherry shrimp in freshwater.  If the babies go up into main tank and get eaten that is fine.  Cl2ysta1, are you meaning I need billions of rotifers to keep the baby shrimp (larva) alive?

Yep, it's their larval diet.

I thought ghost shrimp were freshwater?  Mysids would be cool.  Where can I get some?  Peppermint would be fun, but I don't think I could maintain the rotifers they need.

Many of the Pepermint larva from our adult shrimp have survived in the tank and the sump. Some are 1/4" in size now. We've done nothing to encourage/feed them.

Rotifers have been mentioned as a food for baby shrimp, but from what I've been told and found online, baby brine shrimp are sufficient to raise pepermint shrimp.
