I'm wondering if my sea cucumber is dying and needs to be removed or if he is just vigorously feeding?

That looks fine to me. But keep an eye on it, they can be really bad when they do die.

Sea Cucumbers basically eat sand and extract all the food materials (detritus) off of the sand and then excrete the cleaned sand.  Those little pellets you see are cucumber poop...

If you notice in the picture the white filaments up on the rock in the lower left corner, that look like a little anemone or jelly fish, those are attached to the cucumber, that is why I'm concerned

Yup dead, luckily no nuke and it was righty next to an elegance coral, but if someone in the future needs to know what a tiger tail puking looks like, here is the pic
