I am making a case to put 2 m58 (250W) magnetic ballasts in, and was wondering how much heat they create. and if i should use a small or large cooling fan in the case.

I would definately put a fan in to keep them cool. I have a cool touch lighting ballast with huge heat sink fins, and it stays hot enough to burn. A fan will help alot.

I hate to say it but don't buy an electronic ballast.  Once you do you'll never go back and you'll be stuck buying the high priced item.  (you know like flying first class)

I agree with Shane, I'd put a cheapo fan from wal mart on them.  For $8 or so you can save yourself the headache of wondering just how hot they are getting.

Come to a meeting, they’re fun!
