I'm thinking of adding more light to my tank, already have 260w of PC light. What do you recommend,I don't make seventy or eighty thousand a year so MH is out of the question for me.T-5 and VHO's I 've heard a little about them, are  the a good addition and where can I get them for a poor man's price.Than k's guys.

for a size/price ratio i think the 96watt "shortie" PC lights that are half actinic half 10k are hard to beat.  about $85 on the net everything included.  don't think you can do two 70w VHO's for much less than that, and they require a lot more space.

Nick, Right now you have 4 55W PC's over a 55 gal. Unless you upgrade to MH that's about it. If you have room for a 4' VHO tube, that's what I'd suggest too. The WH-7 ballast is about $40 and the tube is also about $40. I'll give you 2 endcaps that I have laying around. BTW, thanks for the TV. It's just right.

I don't think metal halide is out of reach, even for a non-rich guy.  There are good deals out there, especially if you are willing to try a little DIY.

Thanks for your reply guys I think I'll go with Mark's suggestion.I have to start looking for a hood to be able to add the new light. BTW Mark you always welcome I wish there was a way I could really pay you for every thing you've done for me, I'll come and get the end caps when I find a hood for a 55g tank so please save them.I bet you know why I'm adding more light to my tank, soooooo jealous of your clams.
