So for some time I have noticed some sort of crustacean that had a home underneath a piece of montipora on a plug I got from another reefer here in the valley. Most of the monti had died back but I kept it anyway mostly because of this little guy. From time to time I would see this "trap door" come open slightly but nothing ever came out.

Well I put it in my nano the other day and tonight something really cool happened...

I dropped a cube of mysis in the tank and as they melted a few of them "stuck" to this invisible thread that was connected to the trap door...wow...then I watched...all of the sudden the door opened slightly and the critter reeled in the line of slime that had caught the mysis. Once he got the first one to the door, he hauled it in and I supposed started feasting...

So, ocean braniacs out ther (Adam), what is this creature?

BTW, I have some cool stills and video of him I will share on this thread once I download them from my Nikon.

It sounds like a Vermetid.

Yep, just researched it, you are correct...look at this link http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rs/index.php

It really is a sight to behold seeing it catch its prey and reel it in!
