First off-
What is your tank size?
What is your lighting?
What is your Salinity at?
What is your Calcium at?
What is your Alk at?
What is your Mag at?
Has it been a slow decay or a fast die-off?

Ive had weird experiences with this coral. Def check all your params and post them here.

My experience with this coral was for months in would thrive then start to die and Id have to frag it all up. All the frags would survive and It would start the process all over again. Then it would die and id have to frag it. Right now its thriving haha so Ill just assume it will start to die in a few more weeks/months.

How's it looking today? I have better luck with this coral when I place it in a weaker current no dead spots but I dont put it in a strong current either. If it was mine I'd start fragging off pieces and make sure to frage it above the dead area.   Ive never had a coral start dying like this that I didnt have to frag to save it. Not saying its not possible, ive just never been able to.   Good Luck and I hope you can save part of it!
