Acerob,
What's the bubble algae, is it the white dots on the glass? If so then I've got it too. Is it a good thing?

Merkley,
The bubble algae is the green stuff at the bottom of the picture. Ae your white dots spiral shaped?

Did you get it from the club or did it come from one of the members selling frags on the side? Is it hard or fairly soft? That picture looks kinda like a plating montipora (hard skeleton) to me and we did frag up a green plate. If it's soft or if it came from someone selling on the side, we'll need a better picture.

Its a joke.
" haven't you ever noticed that no matter how much money you have spent on corals the first thing that non-reefers notice is the bubble algae. "

jfinch,
It's hard. Other than that I haven't noticed it so any signs of life. I'll try to get a better shot tonight though. It's more of a brown then a green so I don't think it was the green plate.
Acerob- I still have a couple frags of bubble algae left if you would like to trade

If you bought it from the club it is the montipora. It looks just like mine. You know it's alive because it has color. If it were dead it would be turn white.
They don't have long polyps that extend or anything like that, but if it is like the piece I put in my office tank 6-8 months ago when it begins to grow it will grow like crazy. Don't know if it is the same variety though.

I got a piece of it at the meeting too. I wrote down that it is
Green Plating Montipora. Mine looks pretty good too but not as
green as yours is. I hope we both have big plates soon.

Plating Montipora is not the same as Plate Coral. Here is a pic of Fungia/plate coral. This is grown in Ogden by WMAS members, Joe & Cindy Jones, from their constantly budding parent colony. They sell these.

I'll give you 4 aptaisia and 4 ounces of Hair algae for that frag in the bottom of your pic.

Jamison, Too late we already worked up a trade... I scrapped the coraline off the side of my tank and gave it to him.
