Ok I have this astrea snail that keeps falling of the glass..So since I now ha can't turn himself back over I put him back on and he sticks but doesn't move much. Later I notice he falls off again...Is he at the end of his life? The other snails are OK. If he is should I remove him?

Since we are on snails. I added a HOB Fufugium ( I have noticed copepods all over my Refugium and tank as of yesterday)any way I was told to add a snail and maybe a hermit to keep the algea at bay in the refugium. However I put one of my Margaritas in there and the next minute he is gowing over the top. I put him back in my tank that has a lip to keep him in.

What snail will most likely not head for the top and tray to escape. Or will I have to make some sort of lip?

Thanks,
Rob

I wouldn't worry about any snails or crabs in your refugium. You want the algae to grow in there.

Plus a hermit might eat some of your "bugs" your trying to grow in there.

The topic title made me think that you visited that company, Rescue Alert in West Jordan. (about 15th W. on 106th S.) Two members of this group have put together a very nice ~300 gal reef in the lobby there. When you visit, ask for Richard or Jared.

Are they Copepods or Amphipods, two different animals. I would assume that you mean Amphipod. This one is called a Grammeras:

BTW, I would move the sick/dying Astrea to the Refugium. Set it down on the ground or on a rock rather than make it expend more energy trying to hang on to the side. That way, it will either lick the macroalgae and surfaces clean of soft algae or die and be eaten by the Grammeras.

Hermit Crabs don't seem to bother "pods" but aren't needed much in a Refugium either.

Mark--Thanks I will move him to the Refugium and let it be. I broke out the loop to look, and These are very tiny like the size of a pencil tip. They are all over the glass bouncing around like fleas. They are white and look like 2 antennas and a pointy little put. I think you posted a colorful picture of it in another post I just seen. Either way It is all good for my tank right?

Through the loop they look more like the ones you posted here, except without all the cool colors
