Topic: Im Thinking Mantis Shrimp Posted: May 30 2005 at 6:53pm |
|
I have my 1.5 gallon Pico setup and since it is too small for any fish,
I am thinking about putting Mantis shrimp in It. So I have a few
questions.
1. Does this sound like a good Idea?
2. How Many Mantis in a 1.5 Gallon? (I am hoping 2-3 would be OK)
3. I know a lot of reefers consider them a nuisance and rather be rid
of them, so is there any one who would want to get rid of some? I can
pick them up at the meeting if anyone is willing to part..
Thanks for looking,
Rob

I have 2 mantis shrimps but I am no expert at them. (still learning) You might be better off passing this question at www.grimreefers.com they have a mantis forum. Sorry utahreefs, I don't mean to advertise other sites. By the way, whats a Pico setup? (I told you I was still learning)

Pico on most forums I have been on is considered a tank that is 3
gallons or less. Thanks for the heads up on the site for Mantis info.
If you look for Pico R us thread in the general forums you will see
dmansheps pico and mine, with some other ideas thrown around.

Reefcentral has a mantis forum as well. I'm going to try and catch mine with a hook so if I do - he's a goner.

If you don't kill him in the process of geeting him out, I'll take him off your hands if you will be at the meeting.

I heard mantis shrimps do not like fresh water. I tried to flush mine out when I rearranged my rockscape. I used a turkey baster and it DID NOT WORK at all. You might as well give it a try.
