I finally got a couple of good shots of Pistonfister's shrimp in my tank. He hardly comes out close to where I can get a good picture, but this morning I got him.

He has done a great job in taking care of those pesky little stars.

Wow - that is so cool looking.  I'm going to have to let those stars reproduce like crazy in my tank so I can get one.

Very nice Brad! I guess you're going to stop laying tile now and become a photographer.

I wish I could Jeff, It certainly be alot easier on the knees and toes. The shrimp is just visiting while Bruce works on his new nano tank. I cant believe how fast he has cleared out all of those stars, since I got back home I have only seen three stars. They sure are gorgeouse little shrimp. Does anyone know if they eat anything other than starfish? Or does anyone else have one?

I thought that the little brittle star fish were a good thing. They help clean up your tank don't they? Why do you consider them a pest Brad?

Only that they reproduce out of control. I havent seen them actually eating on any coral, but I went from just a couple now and then , to seeing and manually removing with10 tweezers 20 a week for two months now . So when Bruce asked if I could house him for awhile I thought it would be a good way to reduce the numbers. And it has.

I kept 1 for about 5 months then 1 for 6 months, together. The harleys eat just stars and if you were able to reproduce some in your refugium and feed one out every other day that would keep them quite happy. I was feeding them those pesky little reef invaders. Can't think of their name right now but they are coral menaces, they never turned on my corals but I got worried when I couldn't get them under control by removing 5-10 a day, know what I mean. They eventually did rid the aquarium of the white stars and ate brittle stars. If they had rid my tank of the brittles before they croaked I was going to have to buy some more stars for their lunch. The other option was to ask the other members for their menace stars. The first disapearance was a complete mystery but the second wasn't, a fish nailed him right after the harley molted, bad fish. Best of luck to you...

Really are beautiful pics.  When you run out of little stars for him, I'll take him.

For sure Adam, that is, if Bruce doesnt want him back. I certainly don't want him to starve. I will be keeping a close eye on him and my tank.
