I believe I have a peacock shrimp in my rocks. I pretty sure I saw him in one of my rocks. Also one of my Cleaner shrimp is completely missing. I only have a 29 gallon bio cube nano and I can't find him anywhere. Is there any way to trap this peacock? Because there is definitely no way I can capture him with a net I have seen it twice and it is always deep in a rock. I can hear it making a loud clicking noise when the ligths are off and sometimes when the lights are on. It is not a crab as I saw it though it moves lighting quick.

Can you freshwater dip the rock it's in?  I had one until we took the tank down.  Never could catch it but oh how we tried.  Even tried the shop vac Smile.

if you know what rock it's in, just take that rock out.  Then you can either keep it, sell it, or destroy it as you see fit.
Was that in there yesterday? Casper--WY windier than ?

If it doesn't leave via the freshwaterdip, just dig it out or crush it in the rock with a screwdriver.

The shop vac method was perfected by Susan as a way to quickly empty a reef tank of everything except the Mantis Shrimp. Though I have not used this method, I understand it works very well.Wink

I removed my mantis by just removing the rock it was in. Also if you need to get it out of the rock a turkey baster with fresh water works well.

Also, I highly doubt it is a "Peacock" mantis. They don't normally come in on live rock.

if you get it out alive, I might actually want it.  I'll set it up in it's own tank on my desk and threaten those who don't do what I say with feeding it by hand Evil%20Smile

I would be interested in it though if you get it out alive.
