Nope... prestone Driveway heat is what I use and it works very well. Can be found just about every where automotive.

This time of year I've seen pickling lime (Mrs. Wage's) at Wal-Mart.

Pickling lime is not the same as "driveway heat". Pickling lime is Kalkwasser or Calcium Hydroxide. Dissolved in topoff water and dripped slowly, preferrably at night, it helps maintain Alkalinity and Calcium levels in the aquarium water. 
A hobbyist purchasing driveway heat/ice melt for aqaurium use should be checking the ingredients to be sure it is pure Calcium Chloride. When mixed with purified water, Calcium Chloride can be added in greater quantity than Kalkwasser to very effectively increase and maintain Calcium. A hobbyist should also know about increasing and maintaining Alkalinity using Baking Soda and Washing Soda.
