Ok, I just switched my lights out on my little tank (so I could take advantage of the coral frag meeting...) and my temperature has climbed.  I stuck my hand in today and noticed it was warmer than normal so I put the thermometer back in and it read about 88 degrees.  Before it was always around 79.  I've only had the metal halide over the tank for 2 days now so nothing seems to have died yet but what can I do?  It's a bell pendant 150 watt HQI that is suspended over the tank with the light about 8" to 10" off of the water.  Should I just go find a clip on fan to clip to the side of the tank?  Eventually I was planning on incorporating the light fixture (minus the bell pendant) into a canopy or something with fans, should I do that sooner rather than later?
Thanks!
Brian

IME, a fan will solve your heat problem.

A fan will certainly help, but also make sure that you have a return breaking the surface of the water. Personally, I don't run any fans in my hood, but I have 2 clipons blowing over my sump/fuge.

a clipon fan is around 8 dollars from Wally World and it is probably the fastest way to solve your problem.  Or you can do what I do and turn up your A/C.
