I'm tired of the usual magfloat and scraper routine so I'm looking for a REAL magnet cleaner Big smile

Has anybody used the Magnavores or the Algae Free magnets? I'm wondering if these are worth the extra money and which one would be best for a 90g. I don't want to under buy but I don't want to bust my glass either LOL

Here's the Algae Free magnets. I was thinking the Piranha or Hammerhead.

Here's the Magnavores that I was looking at. I was thinking maybe the 2ER or 4ER

Any experience with these? Going blind, I'm leaning towards the Magnavores

I've always been happy with the MagFloats. Maybe yours is just getting old and needs the cleaning pads replaced or maybe the more expensive cleaners really are better. I hope you get a good answer.

I lave my Algee free with the extra easy blade on it, Check marinedepot.com for it.
It pulls of all algee even old hard corailline.
hands down the best,
I hate my Mag floats too, all of them.

I use the algea free magnets, I have the piranha and the great white.  I have to be very careful with the great white, it can smash a finger  or worse.  I use an acrylic sock over the submerged magnet so it doesnt scratch the acrylic and felt on the outer magnet.  Works great  unless you pick up a grain of sand.Angry

I have the tiger shark. I like the stronger magnets, but the mag-floats work fine. It's all in what you want to get out of it- if you want a magnet cleaner that can just about take off coralline, better forget the mag-floats.

My mag float with the easy blade works great.  Not so great without the easy blade though.

So, it looks like those that spent the extra money on the Algae Free magnets have not been disappointed. Thank you for your input......I think that's enough to push me over the edge.
Anybody have experience with the Magnavores?

So, just an update.
I went ahead an ordered the hammerhead with the scraper. I appreciate all the input.
I have to say......these things are great and well worth the money. My magfloat with the scraper wouldn't get the stubborn spots off, but the hammerhead cuts through like butter. If anybody else has considered these, I must say, well worth the money. Smile
